Current Site Status - Week of February 1st

National Grid and its contractors are conducting additional investigation work at the former Citizens Manufactured Gas Plant (MGP) Site. The additional investigation is described in the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation-approved Supplemental Design Investigation Work Plan (SDI WP, see Key Documents tab). The SDI is necessary to complete the remedial design.

The test pile program (part of the SDI) is underway at the Site. The program includes the installation and testing of two steel piles on the site near the canal. The data collected will be used to help complete the remedial design. Based on the scope of the work and the proximity of the work area to the canal, noise and vibration is not expected to be an issue. The Community Air Monitoring Program (CAMP) and a vibration monitoring program will be conducted during the test pile program.

The test pile program contractor has completed the installation of the two piles, and testing is planned to begin this week. There are about three weeks of work remaining in the program. To date, there have been no CAMP or vibration monitoring exceedances.

National Grid remains committed to keeping the community informed of our activities at the former Citizens MGP site and we appreciate your patience and cooperation.
