Current Site Status - Week of January 11th
National Grid and its contractors are conducting additional investigation work at the former Citizens Manufactured Gas Plant (MGP) Site. The additional investigation is described in the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation-approved Supplemental Design Investigation Work Plan (SDI WP, see Key Documents tab). The SDI is necessary to complete the remedial design.
Upcoming work includes a test pile program, which generally involves the installation and testing of two steel piles on the site near the canal. The data collected will be used to help complete the remedial design. Based on the scope of the work and the proximity of the work area to the canal, noise and vibration is not expected to be an issue. The Community Air Monitoring Program (CAMP) and a vibration monitoring program will be conducted during the test pile program. The test pile program contractor is mobilizing to the site the week of January 11th, 2016, and the field work is anticipated to last about five weeks.
National Grid remains committed to keeping the community informed of our activities at the former Citizens MGP site and we appreciate your patience and cooperation.
